South Beach Diet Day 24 - Healthy Eating

South Beach Diet Day 24 - Healthy Eating

Today's South Beach Diet Tips:

* South Beach is more about adopting a new healthy way of eating for the rest of your life, than about a short-term one time weight loss.

* Have a go-to fast food joint that you know is South Beach-friendly so you can eat on the go if your schedule gets out of whack (by now you know my fast food fave is El Pollo Loco).

And now, here are the details of my 24th day on the South Beach Diet...

What I Weighed Today: 193 lbs. (8am)

My latest South Beach strategy seems to be working (see Day 22 and Day 23).

Only one more pound to reach my monthly weight loss target and I still have 4 more days to go. Have I begun to plan the meals for my planned week off dieting? Hell, yeah!! Am I nervous that my the crash meal bar plan will affect my weight gain during my week off? Abso-freakin'-lutely! But I won't think about that right now.

I need to get to goal and then just watch myself carefully. Very low-carb diets can put you in a situation where as soon as you start consuming regular carbs again you plump up. I have considered this heavily but I think challenging my body like this might actually be good. It doesn't know what's coming at it so it doesn’t have time to settle into a groove.

I do believe in my heart that South Beach is a life plan, not a short-term solution. I don’t think it should be utilized to fit into a dress for a wedding or reunion. The reason I don’t think that should be done is because the person would not be moving to another controlled eating plan like I'm doing here. They would be working to a goal and then going crazy. Just like with fasting or crash dieting, the end result is that the weight comes back quickly and the dress goes to the back of the closet forever.

What I Ate Today:
Breakfast: 1 South Beach Chocolate Peanut Butter Chocolate Meal Bar, Starbucks Iced Venti Skinny Vanilla Latte
Lunch: 1 South Beach Chocolate Peanut Butter Crispy Meal Bar
Snack: Cucumbers, Carrots, Bell Peppers
Dinner: El Pollo Loco Chicken Caesar Salad and Chicken Breast
Snack: South Beach Raspberry Chocolate Bar

EXERCISE:
None

I am hoping that my short time on South Beach followed by a controlled eating plan will allow me to continue to see loss. I guess we can only wait and see. One thing is for sure. I will see some gain if I have any regular carbs on my week off. Even a drink or two will plump me up like a balloon. But as long as I am able to shed those pounds within the first couple of weeks on the next plan and still reach my goal for next month, then the mission will be accomplished and we will have the answer we need.

I seem to have found a friend in El Pollo Loco. I wish I could find a place close to me or on my way that made grilled fish. There probably is one but I don’t know where it is. A little variety would make this sooooo much easier. But hey, I only have a few more days. And if I reach my goal it is totally worth it.
