Nutrisystem Day 7 - Alcohol and Dieting and David Hasselhoff

And now, here are the details of my 7th day on NS...
What I Weighed Today: 202.5 lbs. (8am)
I strayed a bit today, but I strayed with Nutrisystem plan foods. I doubled up my protein portions and I had two snacks last night. Weekends are always a battle for me but this weekend had been extremely busy so it wasn’t until I was alone in the house that I started to really struggle. I wanted to relax and enjoy the last day of my weekend but I found myself counting the minutes between each meal. As soon as my food digested a little I was obsessed with the next serving. That is definitely addict behavior.
I don’t know if the fact that today was a pretty good NS day was a help or a hindrance. I enjoyed most of the food today and maybe it made me want more. I don’t know, I love to eat on weekends. This is usually when my friends and I get together and imbibe and I truly miss that. Drinking on this plan would be a very bad idea for me. I can not control myself when I drink and drinking makes me crave sex and food. Not necessarily in that order.
What I Ate Today:
Breakfast: NS Homestyle Pancakes, ¼ cup Low-Fat Cottage Cheese, 4 cups Coffee w/8 tablespoons Fat-Free Creamer & 4 tablespoons Sugar-Free Hazelnut syrup, Frozen Fruit Cup – Ruby Red Grapefruit – 300 calories
Lunch: NS Red Beans & Rice w/Sausage, 2 oz. Low-Fat Cheddar Cheese – 320 calories
Snack: 1 nectarine, 1 oz. Low-Fat String Cheese – 130.7 calories
Dinner: NS Stroganoff Sauce w/Beef & Noodles, 2 cups Arugula, 2 cups Romaine, 2 tablespoons Girard’s Light Caesar Dressing, 1 tablespoon Kraft Fat-Free Caesar Dressing , 2oz. Low-Fat String Cheese – 492.6 calories
Dessert: NS Cheese Puffs, NS Blueberry Lemon Bar – 300 calories
TOTAL CALORIES: 1724
There is something so sensual and satisfying about food and alcohol together. When I saw that viral video of David Hasselhoff on the floor, drunk off his ass, eating a hamburger and moaning about how good it was, I got it! I got it in a way most people wouldn’t. I acknowledge the fact that he has a very serious problem but I’m just relating to how much more delicious and incredible food can be with a little drinky-poo to kick it into gear. Remember that scene from 9 ½ Weeks when Mickey Rourke poured wine and smeared mashed potatoes right from the fridge onto Kim Bassinger? I fell in love with him right then and there. Of course, that was way before his plastic surgery debacle.
But I digress, as we need to examine this weekend thing that seems to want to haunt me and try to figure out how I can get this under control. Is the answer to save up allowances with the understanding that I may slip on the weekend or maybe I should just work harder on being disciplined. Maybe I need to fill my calendar with activities that will keep me out of the house until the end of the day on weekends. Then I won’t have the time to really go crazy. All of the diet plans suggest that you plan active things with your friends instead of eating dates. In order to do this, I will have to find a lot of new friends. We like to eat. We are foodies. I will make an attempt to add activities either before or after a meal but food is inevitable in my crowd.
This experiment is about testing and developing new habits. I will have to give some uncomfortable things a try but if it pays off in the end I can’t argue with results.
* NS Homestyle Pancakes – 180 calories
YUM! F*ck me sideways these are GOOD!! I didn’t have any syrup so I took my doctored cottage cheese (I add Splenda, cinnamon, and nutmeg) and I spread it on top. It was like eating a cheese-filled crepe. Before I put the cottage cheese on, I took a bite of the pancake and it was good just plain. This is a frozen entrée and just takes a few seconds in the microwave. Loved it.
* NS Red Beans & Rice w/Sausage – 180 calories
YUM! This was good. Spicy and tasty. Reminded me of my mom’s red beans & rice. One small problem, the serving didn’t even cover the bottom of a small saucer. It was such a tease.
* NS Stroganoff Sauce w/Beef & Noodles – 270 calories
MEH. This was just weird. Once again they were really reaching to call this “Stroganoff Sauce.” They like to label these entrées with the hope that by the time you open it you are so hungry for what they called it, you won’t notice that it’s nothing like the original. Stroganoff Sauce is creamy in my world, this was not even remotely creamy. It was thick and tangy. It was decent. I might eat it again, but it would need to be called ‘Beef & Noodles in Sauce.’ Then I will know what to expect.
* NS Cheese Puffs – 140 calories
YUM! Still a favorite! Want to eat a huge bag of them.
* NS Blueberry Lemon Bar – 160 calories
YUM! This was surprisingly good. Tangy and sweet. It’s a chewy little bar covered with a layer of blueberry jelly and a lemony frosting. I wanted more, which I find doesn’t happen very often with this food.
