Jenny Craig Day 17 - Craving, Bingeing and Volumetrics
Today's Jenny Craig Tips:
* Volumetrics is not a new concept, and if you already know that an apple takes up more room in your stomach than an Oreo, you can skip buying the book.
* If you wait around all day for a man to call, don’t do it near a refrigerator.
And now, here are the details of my 17th day on JC...
What I Weighed Today: 190 lbs. (8am)
I would like to eat the world today. I am craving everything. I even want to binge on my Jenny Craig diet food. I’d like to heat up about four of these entrées and eat them all in one sitting.
I have managed to control myself so far but it has been quite the struggle today. This evening has been the worst because I can’t keep busy enough and I keep checking my phone and email. Howard has not communicated with me in any way shape or form. This will be the three days since we last ‘talked’. And the ‘talking’ really was just voicemails. I have sent a few innocuous texts to see if he would respond and he hasn’t.
I am trying to break out of my normal reaction to this kind of thing and just let it go but I have been through this so many times and I know what this behavior usually means. It means he is pulling away. It means I have been dumped again without the courtesy of an explanation. It means…..OK……stopping the freak-out…….reeling the emotions back in…calling on all my strength.
*Heavy Sigh* *Deeeeeep Breath* Even though my insides are in knots right now I am not going to let myself get nuts about this just yet. I will feel really silly if I get all weepy and crazy and then he calls and has a good explanation for the silence. So I will just buckle down and get some work done and concentrate on my eating. There have to be some projects around the house that I can tackle while I go through this. If I keep busy, I’m golden.
What I Ate Today:
Breakfast: Jenny Craig Cheddar Omelet, 2 oz. String Cheese, 2 cups Coffee w/4 tablespoons sugar-free Hazelnut creamer
Snack 1: Jenny Peanut Butter Chocolate Anytime Bar
Lunch: Jenny Craig Zesty Tortellini Soup, Necatarine, Celery, Baby Carrots
Snack: Jenny Craig Cheese Curls
Dinner: Jenny Craig Rotini w/Meatballs
Snack: Apple, 2 oz. String Cheese

In the meantime, let us talk a little about JC. As you can tell, they do allow for some extra proteins, lots of veggies and a few fruits. So I do have some breathing room. It helps. I can continue my obsession with string cheese and I feel satisfied if not full on a pretty regular basis. My issues with mental and emotional hunger continue but I don’t feel 100% deprived. The Soupetizer was great the first week or so but it’s just too hot for that right now. I also think I would get sick of it pretty quick. Right now my preference is chilled fruit and vegetables. Jenny has this term called volumetrics. It refers to the idea that you can eat the same amounts of food that you ate before but you interchange your choice with the right kinds of foods to stay satisfied while you lose weight. It’s not rocket science, but I have to assume there are tons of people who either have never heard this or having it put this way is the first time the truly understand the idea. One of the examples they give on the website is that you have two chicken breasts of the same size and weight but one is grilled and one is fried. Voila, magic beans! Now to be fair, another example was grapes vs. raisins. This comparison might not be obvious to a person who hasn’t been on every diet known to man so I kind of get why they feel this concept was worth registering a trademark for. There are tons of other Volumetrics tricks that they tell you, like eating your salad first. Hmm, I could swear this has been the practice of civilized society for decades. Good thing someone put it in writing though or we may never have figured it out.
Blah, blah, blah, screw this…..I just wish he would call.
* Jenny Craig Cheddar Omelet
YUM! Holy Crap! My JC counselor was on the money with this one. It is really, REALLY good. It is a cheese omelet with a little cheese on the inside and more cheesy sauce on top. It comes with these home-style potatoes that have been cooked with bell pepper & onions. I actually made it kind of a country-style omelet by putting the potatoes inside the omelet. It was awesome!
* Jenny Craig Zesty Tortellini Soup
YUM! I didn’t expect to like this one from the picture. It looked like bad baby food. But I must admit when I am wrong. This was thick and delicious. They seasoned the broth well and there was plenty of pasta in it. I adored it and I intend to have it again if possible. It actually is one of my favorites.
* Jenny Craig Cheese Curls
YUM! These are still one of my favorites but you don’t get nearly enough of them to kill all your cravings .
* Jenny Craig Rotini w/Meatballs
YUM! Still LUVZ IT!
