Fat Loss 4 Idiots - Day 7

Today's Fat Loss 4 Idiots Tip:

TODAY'S TIP IS VERY IMPORTANT!!  Please read!

  • Stick to 10 glasses of water a day. Don't go beyond that. I made a big mistake drinking almost 20 glasses of water per day, including 2 glasses of water before each meal. The result? I felt so full from the water that I hardly ate any of my food. After an hour, I'd peed out the water and  I was STARVING! Don't do it! Big mistake! 10 glasses of water is good, but more isn't. You'll feel horrible and hungry, and you'll want to drop off the diet, as you'll see when you read about my day below.

Today's Weight: 141.7lbs

I think the hunger delusions may have begun...

My hands are shaking, my stomach is in knots, I'm physically exhausted and I have a headache. I think its safe to assume that I'm not feeling very well. And call me crazy, but I'm also feeling fairly positive that it has at least something to do with this Fat Loss for Idiots diet.

It's Day #7 and things aren't going very well. Not only am I up half a pound from yesterday, but I'm feeling pretty terrible. I've been noticing over the days that my appetite seems to have shrunk. I'm still having some pretty strong cravings - nowadays for a slice of bread or a plate of pasta to fill me up long term - but my full point seems to have decreased so that at each meal, I've found myself eating less and less. According to the website, portion control is one of the leading success factors in this diet.

At each meal, I'm only supposed to eat until I hit a full point. I'm supposed to have room leftover to eat something else if I wanted to, except that I won't because I'm on this diet. Then I have to wait at least two and a half hours before eating my next meal. Two and a half very long, very hungry hours. Trying to follow the rules, at each meal I've been working to make sure I never reach the point of being completely full, or stuffed. Except that it only takes about half an hour before I'm hungry again. Sure, I'm functional. But I'm rarely satisfied for long. On top of that, I think my stomach may have shrunk. Each meal takes less and less food for me to feel "full." But I'm rarely - if ever - satisfied. And I'm wondering if this is part of the diet's plan, or if I've missed something along the way.

I think that the only truly satisfying meal I had, was my dinner meal of chicken, bacon and baked beans - and that may only be because I had a hard time stopping myself from eating once I reached full. Actually, I had to have my husband take my plate away and throw the leftovers in the trash so I wouldn't be tempted to clear my plate. To be fair, I rarely find myself hungry in the normal sense. My stomach never growls, and it doesn't feel empty per say. Not even after a full night's sleep and over 12 hours between meals. I almost feel like I could go a whole day without food and my stomach would still feel this way - its almost like I don't need food at all anymore. I think the hunger delusions may have begun.

In hopes of lifting my spirits and possibly rejuvenating my body, I also added a bit of a workout into my evening. Normally, I go for an hour-long power walk daily to kind of reset my body and my brain. Plus its a nice excuse to get out of the house. With my grandmother in town, though, and busy days afoot, I haven't had a chance to make it out since this diet started. Today, though, I decided to kick the diet blues with a half-hour power walk (it was all Lilliale could handle before starting to fuss inside the stroller) and some stomach exercises. And if someone had told me at any point during the past few months that my first time doing sit-ups since the birth of my daughter would result in me doing 50, I would have laughed in their face. But I can thank my oh-so-muscular husband for that one. I think his years in the Marine Corps may have pushed him off a ledge - and I let him take me with him. Every time I was done, it was "just a few more." Hah! Yeah, right! At 50, I finally called it quits.

What I was most surprised about, though, was that in both my walk and my sit-ups, it wasn't specifically my muscles getting tired, it was me getting tired. Even though an hour-long walk (sometimes twice a day) is normal for me, this half an hour walk sent my body into quivers. Holding my hand in front of my face, I could see it involuntarily quake. I just can't help but feel like my body is spinning out of control. It's hard to put a finger on and unfair to place blame on this diet without knowing for sure, but something just feels off. It feels food-related, and it started after I began this diet. For now, I'm working hard to hydrate and I'm making sure I follow all the rules. At this point, I'm just counting down the days until this weekend. Those three cheat days will feel like a vacation in real-food heaven after these 11 days in diet purgatory. But then again, who knows? Today might just be a bad day.

Breakfast: One and a half hard boiled eggs

Lunch: Two slices of turkey lunch meat and two slices American cheese
